Hot Foil stamping
*Sheet Fed Cold Foils*
As with reel-fed, DieLess™ foil stamping, API Foilmakers has been at the forefront of industry developments to integrate the foil application process into sheet-fed offset printing presses.
• Available in reels, cut to customer-specified length and width
• Additional specialist grades & shades on request
Product Type:
*TU*: The TU sheet fed cold foil Grade is a free releasing foil with good adhesion onto cold foil adhesives. This allows in-line or off-line over-printing with UV drying offset inks.
*Metallic Hot Stamping Foils*
Hot stamping foil gives the best, most reflective finish of all coating processes and is also the most versatile for use on different materials and substrates.
• Gloss, satin and matt finishes
• Available in reels, cut to customer-specified length and width
• Additional specialist grades & shade on request
*Product Types*
• *MV-Plus* for general graphics applications
• *MH* (Americas grade GR) for uncoated paper and board, larger areas and applications combining foiling and embossing
• *UB* series for excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates
• CB series for excellent over printable quality on a wide range of substrates
• *AV* for bookbinding and textured surfaces
• *LS* for foiling on water based coatings
• *MC* for self-adhesive labels and wrappers
The reason is as much to do with the method of application as the foil itself, as heat and pressure used to stamp the foil simultaneously irons out any unevenness and roughness in the surface of the substrate.
Like a mirror, hot stamping foils employ a thin layer of metal behind a refractive medium (a thin layer of lacquer)
*Pigment Hot Stamping Foils*
Pigment hot stamping foils bring many of the same advantages for the application of colour which metallic hot stamping foils have over metallic inks and liquid coatings.
• Applications include Graphical, Closures, Packaging, Plastics and License plates
• Available in reels, cut to customer-specified length and width
• Additional specialist grades & shade on request
*Product Types*
*PG*: a premium matt pigment foil for general purpose applications. Excellent for both fine detail and broad area coverage work as required by the labelling, packaging and graphics sectors.
*EZ*: for deep stamping of lettering and fine detail into rigid plastics & designed with an easy release, which provides medium coverage to fine detail prints.
*432*: A premium hot stamping pigment foil, suitable for both fine detail and broad area coverage work. It is extremely versatile, can be used on a wide range of substrates. It has a ‘pop-off’ release for high speed and ease of application.
*UA*: A general purpose matt pigment foil which provides versatility with excellent coverage and definition.
Specifically, the use of heat and pressure to apply pigment foil enables the contours of the substrate to be flattened out to provide a smooth surface in the ‘printed’ area.Clean, high quality text and graphics can therefore be achieved on uneven, rough and textured surfaces.
Another key benefit of foil is the simple, clean process by which it is applied. With fewer process variables, machines tend to be relatively low cost and simple to operate and there are no process chemicals to worry about, with associated health, safety & environmental implications.
This makes pigment hot stamping foils particularly relevant for low volume, high quality label applications.
*Narrow Web Cold Foils*
API Foilmakers pioneered the development of cold foiling technology which transformed the economics and flexibility of foil stamping in the 1990s.
• Gloss, matt and satin finishes available
• Second surface option (for viewing filmic labels and sleeves from the reverse)
• Available in reels, cut to customer-specified length and width
• Additional specialist grades & shade on request
